ASSESSMENTS
STAR 1–5 Assessments
The STAR 1–5 program includes five levels of assessment in each discipline: Skills, Freeskate, and Dance.
Assessments are completed by your child’s coach during regular ice time and may take place at any point in the season once a skater is ready. Coaches must complete mandatory Skate Canada Assessment Training in order to conduct these evaluations.
Why Assessments Matter
Coach assessments play an important role in your skater’s development:
-
They provide a clear measure of progress and achievement.
-
They recognize the results of your skater’s hard work.
-
They help coaches, parents, and skaters plan training goals for the season ahead.
Your coach will determine when your skater is ready for an assessment and will notify you in advance.
