Use of Helmets

Use of helmet is mandatory for skaters who have not yet completed CanSkate Stage 5.

Recreational programs such as skating involve certain elements of risk. Injuries, loss or damage may occur while traveling to or from or while participating in skating lessons, practices, competitions or other activities. The risk of sustaining injuries results from the nature of the activity, and can be reduced by following the instructions provided by the coaches and club directors. If you choose to participate/have your child participate in skating, you must understand that you bear the responsibility for any injury, loss or damage that might occur. Parental/guardian attendance at the rink during training sessions is required for children under the age of 12. The Municipalities do not provide accidental death, disability, dismemberment or medical expense insurance on behalf of the individuals participating in this activity.

It is understood and agreed, as a condition of participation in skating programs offered by the Seine River Skating Club and Skate Canada, that neither the Club nor Skate Canada nor Complexe Communautaire de Lorette Community Complex nor the RM of Tache nor Ile de Chenes Arena nor the RM of Richot shall be liable for any injury, loss or damage suffered, or caused by the above noted member(s) while traveling to or from or while participating in skating lessons, practices, competitions or other program activities, however caused. The member, or his/her parent/legal guardian who has signed this form, shall indemnify the Club, Skate Canada, the RM of Tache, RM of Richot and the employees/agents, members and directors of those organizations, and hold them harmless from any claims, demands or actions arising from or in respect of such injury, loss or damage.

Code of Conduct

New to 2025-2026 Season Safe Sport Code of Conduct - Ethics Policy and Discipline - Complaint Policy have been adopted by the skating club. Please refer to the Safe Sports Policies page for further information.

At all SRSC activities, at any venue, I WILL:

  • help foster a positive skating environment for myself or my child and other skaters at all SRSC activities;

  • be positive to all skaters, coaches, volunteers and parents;

  • be encouraging, supportive and positive in regard to my or my child's skating development on and off the ice.

At all SRSC activities, at any venue, I WILL NOT:

  • use obscene, vulgar, antagonizing or offensive language to anyone;

  • taunt skaters, coaches, volunteers, parents, rink employees or any spectators by means of baiting, ridiculing, threat or use of physical violence;

  • be critical of any coach, volunteer, or the SRSC programming or policies in front of my child or others. If I have a concern or grievance that I feel needs to be addressed, I will direct my concern to the SRSC Board Executive via email;

  • coach from the stands. I will respect the coaches' decisions and abilities. I will not interfere at any time with the duties and responsibilities of the coach(es). I will not put my child in the unfair position of having to decide who to listen to - the parent or coach(es).

I support the belief that the most important aspect of my child's skating experience is for them to have fun while developing physical and emotional skills, interests and friendships that will serve them for life.

I recognize situations may arise outside the scope of this code of conduct. I will abide by the collective decision of the elected board of the SRSC on issues not specifically addressed in the scope of this document or their constitution.

I acknowledge the board will deal with violations of this code at it's sole discretion, imposing warnings, suspension or expulsion from the program, as it deems appropriate under the SRSC Constitution. Refunds are not given to anyone suspended or expelled from the program.

Volunteering

Seine River Skating Club is a volunteer-based organization. In order to operate, we require guardians or parents of skaters to take an active role in day-to-day activities. This could include opportunities at the rink, assisting with ice shows and events, and supporting club governance. As a club member please check club communications for opportunities throughout the year.
The Seine River Skating Club board will communicate these as they arise.
