Skate Canada Fees

Yearly Skate Canada Fees/Insurance are required for all registered skaters and others who are on the ice during lessons. Current fees are $58.70.

The year runs from September to August.  Fees will be applied at the time of registration, and are non-refundable.  If the skater already has paid these fees through another club, SRSC will refund once proof of insurance for the current season is received from Skate Canada.

Adults on the ice during Pre-CanSkate also require insurance.  SRSC covers the cost of the first adult on the ice.  Families that wish to swap adults from lesson to lesson must pay for any and all additional Skate Canada fees.  Accounts will be updated to include this fee.

General Payment Information

Payments can be made by credit card through our registration system.

SRSC skating families can apply for funding assistance for skating programming through KidSport Manitoba and/or Canadian Tire's JumpStart program, please visit both links for the online applications and to see if you qualify.

Refund Policy

Lessons are refundable up to and including the 3rd lesson of the season.  Any refund requests after that time will be reviewed on a case by case basis.  Please direct inquiries to the club board.  Skate Canada Fees once paid to Skate Canada are non-refundable.

Volunteering

Our skating programs are volunteer-run and rely on the assistance of all of the families participating in the programs for successful operation.

Events: Each year the Seine River Skating Club hosts a variety of events, such as:

  • The annual end of the season performance days (in March) which provides the skaters in our programs the opportunity to show off the skills they have learned during the year;
  • Holiday Family Fun Skates;
  • Skate-a-Thons;
  • Figure Skating Test Days; and
  • Figure Skating and/or Synchronized Skating competitions (not every year)

As a significant volunteer effort is required for these events, parents will be asked to assist with planning, organization, set-up, and clean-up. Emails will go out throughout the season requesting assistance.

Fundraising

The Seine River Skating Club relies completely on funding from our members, as no on-going support is provided by municipal or provincial bodies. In order to keep our program fees as low as possible, registered skating families in specific programs are required to participate in fundraising.

Each family will be charged a fundraising commitment fee at the time of registration to be paid by the first lesson.

Fundraising items will be available for pick up early in the season.

NEW - As of the 2024-2025 Season STARSkate Families will do additional fundraising that will go specifically to the various STARSkate programs to continue to offset costs of ice and coaching.
